The Summer Lipstick – Virgin Vie Lady Marmalade

I am loving lipsticks lately, they were such a neglected
item in my make up bag before, putting colour on my lips was never something I
thought of but now I can’t buy enough. I keep getting them with my No.7
vouchers but find they’re colour range a little disappointing. I’m always on
the hunt for a beautiful pink nude shade and it seems Mac wins in this. Mac
seems to have lipstick shades normal drug store ranges can’t seem to compete
with. I’m planning on getting my first Mac lipstick at the end of the month.
I’m currently eyeing up crème cup. What’s your favourite shade.

As summer is coming I decided I’d try to find an orange
shade that suited me. I love really dark colours but they are being put away
for winter and I need to buy lots of new ones for spring/summer (any excuse to
shop really)

While I was rooting through my make up bag for a blusher I
found this little forgotten gem in there. I got this ages ago as some sort of
set while at a Virgin Vie party and it ended up in my make up bag never
touched. Until today.

With flash, also blended at the top to show it doesn’t have to be worn as orangey

Without Flash

The shade is called lady marmalade which I love. It’s got a
gorgeous creamy texture to it and applies smoothly to the lip. It’s a very
pigmented orange red shade that I think looks great for the warmer weather. As
for lasting power I have reapplied around 3 times today as it has faded. I tend
to apply lipstick a lot throughout the day though. I find lipsticks tend to dry
out on my lips this on surprisingly doesn’t though. The downside for me is the
smell, it smells so much like playdough it’s really odd smell. The smell
doesn’t last too long though.

Without Flash
With Flash, Ignore my bad application on the side oops!

I think with flash shows a more true to shade colour

Unfortunately I don’t think this shade is sold any more, there are lots of nice orange shades on the market at the moment though. Barry M 151 has some great looking swatches online. I think with bright lipsticks swatching to see what the shade actually comes out as is a must. I used to be put off if I didn’t like how it looked in the tube but lately I’ve been shocked at how they differ from tube to lips.

Do you have any orange lipsticks? What are your thoughts on
high street brands shades? Do you also find them lacking in wearable nudes? For
me I’m looking for a nude that isn’t shimmery, looks like foundation or super
pale pink. I’ve not found many that aren’t Mac, any suggestions?

Love M

It may be available at the parties but I couldn't find it online. I need to try and find a dupe for it =)

I'm not a big orange lover but if it's subtle, then I wouldn't mind trying.
