Review: Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer

Both of us have spent the past few months making our way through Revlon’s products eagerly.

One of our purchases is the PhotoReady Perfecting Primer.

Revlon Primer

As you can tell from my bottle, this product gets a lot of use.

This was my second bottle actually, having been bought just before Christmas and as you can imagine it has taken a battering!

The bottle tends to stay in good condition but the lid gets scratched and eventually falls off all the time in my make up bag, which isn’t ideal but I’ll go with it as it’s so good.

The primer is a white/grey/lilac kind of colour and feels really soft to touch. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to cover your skin with a layer of silicone and it actually blends in like a moisturiser would but does leave a very thin layer on your face making it feel like velvet.

The pump is easy to use and you can easily control how much you’re dispensing which is always good, some pumps should take a lesson from this one!

I dispensed one pump of the primer onto my hand below and then blended it into my skin to show you how it looks:

You can see it creates a really smooth uniform base to apply make up on and the thin film keeps my make up on my face for an entire day of running around a shop floor with copious amounts of heat and stress.

I have also gone to the gym or an exercise class after work and my make up is still mostly in tact afterwards and I would recommend this primer to ANYONE.

I’ve tried much more expensive primers which haven’t been as good but I’ve got a smashbox one to try so I’ll be interested to see how this compares!

Revlon Primer

I adore this primer. This was one of the things I picked up when I went to America. Since seeing it in boots it was something I really wanted to try. Especially as I loved Colorstay so much.

Revlon really has been a standout brand for both of us these past 6 months. It wasn’t a brand I paid much attention to before but with brilliant lip and face products coming to my attention it’s definitely on of my favourites.

This primer is perfect. Personally I prefer this type of white cream primer to the heavy silcone based clear ones. It sinks into the skin easily leaving a perfect smooth matte finish and doesnt leave my face feeling caked or heavy.

I love this paired with my ColorStay. This is my favourite face combination. Applied with a RT buffing or expert face brush (which I love so much I have two of) the primer helps any foundation I pair with it last longer. It works with all foundations. I’ve found some primers can make some foundations sit unnaturally on the skin and almost peel off.

This doesn’t do that. It just blends perfectly. I like to apply primer leave it for a minute then add foundation. Usually I mix this with my Stila primer as I love the combination of the two. I tend to mix products a lot. I usually use two different mascaras and regularly mix my foundations

The Revlon primer is a very big competition for my Avon Magix face perfector. I now tend to use Revlon for the Day and Avon for the evening.

Love M

This sounds great! Do you think it is good for oily/combination skin? I like my current primer but it doesn't control my oily patches very well! xx
