Too Faced Born This Way Foundation Review

Looking for a new foundation can be difficult, do you agree?

Finding one that fits my criteria can be a chore. It has the right consistency, the right finish, is buildable, lasts at least 12 hours and has the perfect skin colour in the range. I like buying new foundations when they turn out right, but otherwise it feels like such a waste of money especially when you don’t have it to waste.

Spending £20+ on something that turns out to be rubbish is not for me, but I couldn’t resist trying Too Faced’s Born This Way foundation. It has some great reviews and some friends recommended it too, so I thought it might be a good one to try next.

This was my first Too Faced product so I couldn’t wait to try it out.

It promises medium to full undetectable coverage with additional benefits such as coconut water, alpine rose and hyaluronic acid to help with hydration, smoothing and brightening.

One thing I was impressed with is the colour range, I know I often complain about finding a foundation light enough for my pale skin but I imagine it can be just as frustrating for darker skin and different tones. This range contains 24 different shades which is a hell of a lot better than other ranges, I ended up selecting the colour Porcelain after having the foundation tested on me in store.

Firstly the packaging appeals to me, I like monochrome and metallic so the black and gold looks good to me. One thing I like is that there isn’t any rubberised packaging so it doesn’t get super dirty with loads of fingerprints all over it like others.

The bottle is glass and the pump is a sturdy plastic, it feels good quality.

So what does it look like on?

I found it easy to apply, it was buildable and although it doesn’t feel like it’s going to have high coverage it does cover a lot of blemishes and feel ‘glowy’. I don’t really like matte finish foundations but some dewy finishes make you look sweaty – there needs to be a middle ground!

Here’s two photos on different days wearing the same foundation. It covers my skin but leaves it still looking like skin, so I’ve been pretty impressed with this as I don’t want to look like I’ve put half a bottle on my face each morning.

The only downside I have found is that it doesn’t always last all day and evening, so sometimes I mix it with a matte finish foundation and this seems to help it last a full day. I haven’t tried it with many primers so maybe this would be the better solution but I’ve been trying to use things up.

The Born This Way foundation costs £29 normally (but is currently on offer in Debenhams!)

This is on the higher end of what I would pay but I think it’s worth it. I keep this for weekend/evenings and wear a cheaper one for work but I’d definitely repurchase this, and I will be seeing as I’m definitely running low since I bought it at Christmas time with a voucher.

I’d recommend for anyone looking for a cruelty free, good coverage and glowy finish foundation to try this. I’d love to try more Too Faced products in future if they are this good!

What’s your favourite Too Faced product? Have you tried the Born This Way foundation?

I actually just bought this foundation myself for the same reason you have! I actually really like it so far, but I've only used it twice, but I'm glad you liked it as much as I have. Great post xxxMelina | melinaelisa.com
