Skincare

My post today is based on my latest splurge in Boots when I ran out of moisturiser

(well not really ran out…but almost!)

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts recently on the new No7 Skincare products, particularly their primer and BB cream.

I would love to go all out and buy some other products but as I actually needed moisturisers I invested in a day moisturiser, a night one and a serum using their 3 for 2 deal.

I was also lucky enough to go their advantage point machine and collect an extra 250 points for buying them, which is ever so helpfully going towards my high end foundation fund ha!

So here’s what I bought:

I have normal/oily skin, complete with the usual shiny t-zone with huge pores kind of scenario that teenagers normally have! Having passed this stage you would have hoped it would have gone by now!

I was lucky in that it was really quiet when I went in and I cannot fault the service, I even got 2 free testers of whatever products I wanted to try! And the lady was very generous with the samples too!

Let’s start with the moisturisers

The day cream has SPF15 which I have been looking for for a long time, and also 5* UVA.

I’m very aware of protecting my skin from UV rays and anything that can help is a bonus!

Joan Collins is proof of this, have you seen her face?! Amazing!

I really like the pots that the products come in, really simple and neutral colours that you wouldn’t mind having on your dressing table.

I also really like that the night cream has a green colour as the inside of the pot, this helps when you rush a lot in the mornings and tend to grab whatever’s closest, you can easily tell which one is which with the colour difference!

As you can tell from the consistency, the day cream looks thicker than the night cream but it doesn’t feel like it on your skin.

The day cream kind of acts as a primer for make up, I’ve found that I haven’t needed my primer when I’ve used it. It mattifies the skin and creates a really good base for foundation, which surprised me!

The night cream feels really nice on your skin too, it sinks in easily and leaves your skin feeling thoroughly moisturised but not overly so, good for the T-zone!

I’m really impressed with both of these purchases.

To complete my 3 for 2 offer, I decided to splurge on the Blemish Defence Serum, which comes in at a hefty £18 (a lot considering I didn’t plan on getting it!)

This serum is massaged into skin after cleansing and before moisturising.

I was a little dubious as I’ve never tried anything like this product before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. After reading the back of the bottle though, I decided to give it a go!

Anything that helps to improve my skin is ok by me:

The pump on my product is a little bit dodgy, so unfortunately I’m going to have to take it back.

But what I managed to use of it in the 2 days before the pump broke definitely had a positive effect on my skin.

At the time I had a number of spots that had all appeared at the same time, for absolutely no reason (grrr!) and I used it before going to bed.

By the time i woke up the next morning they’d gone!

Actually vanished!

I’m very much hoping this was due to the serum as if it has an effect that quickly I would love to see what it does in the long term…

No spots? Improved skin tone? Reduced oiliness?……………..I can dream!

It also feels really nice on the skin, it’s very runny so beware of this if you buy it, but it sinks in fast and leaves your skin feeling quite hydrated (though doesn’t replace your moisturiser!)

I’m looking forward to using it regularly to see the effects.

As for my testers I chose the Skin Purifying Exfoliator (on the left) and she insisted I had to try the Protect and Perfect serum

I was a little offended when she suggested this which obviously showed on my face, (I’m only 23!!) cue her insisting that I don’t look old but there’s no time like the present for preventing the wrinkles from appearing.

I’m all for preventing the wrinkles and I will definitely be testing out the serum and the exfoliator as soon as possible, but I’m not sure I’ll be buying into it on my budget just yet!

You can find the new skincare range from No7 here.

What skin care brand do you use? Have you tried any of the No7 products yet?

Would you after reading this?

Just a quick note: I’ve had my make up on since 8am this morning, and haven’t had to touch up my powder once, my skin is still mattified and feels silky smooth!

I was tempted to buy a cleanser but don't really need one at the moment and I'm trying to finish things off! But i'm so impressed at the moment with how these 3 have worked that I'd consider trying it all! 🙂 xxx

The day moisturizer sounds awesome! It's hard to find a moisturizer that actually mattifies like that. Thanks for your kind comment on my blog! 🙂
