Review: Estee Lauder and Michael Kors Christmas 2011 Set

When I went on my little trip to Swindon’s McArthur Glen designer outlet, I bought a few items that I’ve been reviewing.

The first was the Bobbi Brown Platinum Pink Shimmer Brick, review of which can be found here

Next up is a lipstick and blush from Estee Lauder’s Christmas 2011 sets that I bought at a discounted price, I forget how much.

First off, I love the packaging. It’s a simple salmon pink colour with white writing and gold highlights.

The blusher has a simple packaging design, and although I say time and time again how much I like monochrome for simplicity, I also quite like this beige, white and gold design.

I also love the printing on the side of the product!

The inside is shown below:

I always think that a brush inside is a bit gimmicky and normally useless, but it’s quite soft to touch and seems to be good quality. We will see as I use it.

The colour swatches out as shown below, first one is applied directly to the skin, and the second one is blended in.

(Excuse my white hands from tanning ha)

I like the shade a lot, it’s very wearable for day and night, I love looking girly and this blusher works perfectly for days at Uni and nights out with the girls.

As my first Estee Lauder products, I’m definitely feeling them!

The lipstick is shown below in matching packaging:

When I saw the colour on the lipstick itself I wasn’t sure but I’m fast learning that you need to swatch to get the true colour.

I unfortunately haven’t been blessed with lips that I fancy photographing and sharing with the world, so again you’ll be seeing swatches on my hand.

(if i wasn’t scared about having a trout pout my number 1 plastic surgery request would be bigger lips!)

As a direct application it looks pretty strong, but the colour does blend into an absolutely amazing pinky nude that you can wear day or night.

I have worn it out for lunch with the girls and out for cocktails and it’s not too over the top.

I think red lipstick definitely has it’s place and I do love it, but it intimidates me mostly, so I’d prefer to stick with this!

I am 100% pleased with these purchases and will definitely look into more Estee Lauder products in future, they have a very good reputation and have been around for a long time but having not experienced them for myself you never know what you’re going to get until you try!

Do you own any Estee Lauder products? Any recommendations?

I always thought of Estee Lauder as being for older people too but I've been really impressed with the few things I've tried lately.I'm the exact same, my top lip is patheticly small so I swatch lippies on my hand too. lol xo

Hehe, I am not alone in the world! I just think if somebody saw them then they'd laugh, I would! I'll stick with my orange arms/white hands combo instead, at least I can work on that 😉
