Life Update

Hi all!

The first 2 months of the year have flown by, I’ve been trying to save some money so have been keeping things fairly low key. I’ve been out for lots of tea and cake, made a few things for my house and have been trying to up my photography game!

Home Decor

I made this papercut with the happiness quote because I found the template free online and couldn’t resist, I love making these as I find it therapeutic so having something to show for it at the end of an evening or two is good by me.

I also picked up the lamp above from Aldi, I’ve seen it around a lot online and couldn’t believe I found them in store. I love the exposed bulbs!

Dirty Martini

Yo sushi

Me and M both went out for some sushi and cocktails one evening, Yo Sushi have a Blue Monday deal where the plates are all the price of the cheaper blue plate. In January they have this every day so we always go every year to make the most of it.
After this we went to Dirty Martini for some of our favourite cocktails, I’m totally obsessed with the passion fruit one and M loves the blood orange. Yum!

We have both been testing out a new heat styling tool from Paul Mitchell the last few weeks. It’s a stunning tool and I’ve been loving the different styles you can do, here’s one of the outcomes on my hair so far:

Make Up Mirror

I love it!

I haven’t bought too much make up recently, but I’ve been trying to shop my stash as much as possible. I realised that I really needed a mirror with lights in to do my make up in the morning, after a quick search on Amazon I found the one above for a bargain £14.99. You can change the brightness by pressing and holding the button in the centre so it has been a godsend for these horrible grey mornings!

Apart from these I’ve been out for a lot of food….considering it was after Christmas I’ve been eating my way around Cardiff! I had a trip to Pieminister and had the sweet potato and goats cheese pie, it was stunning especially with all the extras…..oops!

Bath

Bath Abbey

I went to Bath for the day with some friends, we had a good walk around the shops and the Abbey which was absolutely beautiful. The windows on the inside are stunning and all of the buildings are so pretty. I love the house above with the vines growing over it, total dream house!

We also stopped for tea and scones for our elevenses and it was so good! Cannot go wrong with tea and sweet treats.

Bath Tea and Cake

Barker Tea House and Cake

I’ve also been for tea and cake with M at Barker’s Tea House in Cardiff. we love going there and their tea variety is great, although the cake variety might be even better!

We had some apple crumble cake, peanut butter chocolate flapjack and lemon and poppy seed cake to share because we couldn’t pick one each and it was the best lunch of the entire year so far. You really can’t go wrong with cake.

Flatlay

Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets

Apart from spending lots on food I’ve been trying to improve my photography for the blog, including better backgrounds and putting more thought into flatlays. It takes some practice but once it’s all set up I’ve been taking loads and have more and more ideas of things to include. I always use Fee from Make Up Savvy as my photography idol, her photos on her blog are stunning and I wish I could make mine that beautiful!

I’ve been trying to get back into reading too, I’ve been struggling recently which isn’t like me but my eyes have been so tired from reading the screen at work. So my brother has let me borrow the Harry Potter audio books so I’ve been really enjoying them Stephen Fry is an amazing narrator! I can’t wait to get into the next books when I see him next.

What have you been up to the last few weeks? I’ve also had a work trip to Barcelona so I’ve got a few more images to share with you in a separate post coming soon.

Is anyone else as obsessed with tea and cake as us???
