Well guys it finally happened. I reached the ripe old age of 30 and there was nothing I could do to stop it!
To celebrate I went away with my family to Snowdon and we visited Zip World for the Titan zip line, stayed in a cottage and went on a quick hike most of the way up Snowdon (we didn’t have enough time to go all the way up but it was so icy we would have needed extra kit to get there anyway!)
The drive up was beautiful and it was nice to be a passenger and be able to stare out the window instead of at the road as I normally do the driving.
We stayed in a cottage and even the dog was allowed to come so we planned a walk too, but first thing’s first the zip line!
Me and my family booked onto the Titan at Zip World in Snowdonia. It’s the largest zip zone in Europe and allows you to zip in a seated position on three different lines over quarries in Snowdonia. Four of you can actually ride at the same time and over the three different lines (Alpha, Bravo and Charlie) for over 2km.
I plan on sharing more in a future post so keep your eyes peeled for that, but special mention to the amazing cake they have in the cafe! This was a pistachio, green tea and raspberry cake in the main cafe and it was so tasty and such a decent portion. I recommend indulging!
The next day we went for a walk up Snowdon. None of us have been up there before so we didn’t know what to expect but we went up the Miner’s Track.
The views were outstanding, and we were so lucky with the weather! It was dry the whole time and mostly sunny, there were a few clouds and it wasn’t particularly warm but it was beautiful.
Just look at the peak itself!
This is as far as we made it due to the time and the weather but I’ll be climbing it in a few weeks for the 3 peaks challenge I’m doing so hopefully it will be a clear morning when we get up there!
After this we were booked into a pub for a Sunday lunch, and this did not disappoint!
We rarely go out for Sunday lunch as my mum makes the best but this was really good, the veg was really fresh, the meat was really tender and there were multiple types of potato so I was very happy!
I then followed this up with a cheesecake, it actually wasn’t as good as I was hoping it would be so I didn’t finish it – I knew we had other snacks at the cottage!
After this when I got home I had my birthday day out with M. I had no idea what we were doing as it was a surprise for me but we were both booked in for a treatment in the amazing Lush Spa in Cardiff!
M has previously written about the Validation Facial here but I couldn’t wait to try it. We arrived at the store and were treated like princesses as soon as we got there! We had an arm massage to relax and were then taken to separate treatments rooms. I had chosen the facial so M had the Comforter and we met up a little while later.
It was amazing and I was so relaxed afterwards. I still can’t believe that was my surprise! How amazing! She knows me well and we had such a lovely day out mid week which made it feel even more relaxed and a treat.
We went for some lunch after this as we were getting a bit hungry so we went to Crumbs which is a cafe in one of the arcades and does a lot of vegan and vegetarian dishes. We had the salad bowls and a slice of their potato pie.
Then the drinks started to flow! We visited a few places including Dirty Martini for some of their Choctails and they were outstanding as usual. The chocolate martini is a permanent favourite for us and we regularly go to have one instead of dessert when we’re out for the evening! But their limited edition Choctails for Easter weekend were amazing.
We also visited Nine Yards for a few cheeky glasses of prosecco.
On Easter Saturday I met up with my friends from school for some meat/cheese boards, dessert and prosecco in Nine Yards. The meat and cheese platters were amazing, the variety was really good and everything was very tasty except there probably wasn’t enough bread on them! I like a heavy cheese to bread ratio but this was a little too much!
Then we ordered the dessert platters to share and we were SO OVERWHELMED.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY LITTLE CAKES AND PATISSERIES ON ONE BOARD.
I wouldn’t call it a mistake exactly but we didn’t get half way through it! The cake was amazing though, and we had so much we all ended up taking some home with us too.
The selection was great but some of them were quite heavy and rich so even when they were small we filled up quite quickly!
I also went out with my work friends for plenty of pizza, cider, burger and gin too but I don’t have many photos from this – probably for good reason!
I think I did my birthday celebration quite well, I managed to make it last the full week and ate almost all of the meal and drink options anyone would choose for a celebration.
I can’t wait to share more pictures of Snowdon and the Zip Line with you soon. Do you want to see a video of the Zip Line?? I wore my Go Pro and also have a copy of the video they did for me too, so I can share that too if you want!
What do you do to celebrate for your birthday? Have you been to Snowdon or Zip World before?
