The Ordinary Skincare – Marine Hyaluronics

Have you heard of The Ordinary? I sure hope so because it’s been filling my Twitter and Instagram feed for a few months now. I recently admitted that I’d given in and picked up a few items and was totally obsessed with the Marine Hyaluronics.

You can see a few of my collection here, I’ll be posting about some of the others soon too so you can check back by looking here at The Ordinary or looking at our general ‘skincare’ search, we’re pretty obsessed so there’s a lot of posts here!

The Marine Hyaluronics are from the Hydrators and Oils section, they contain exopolysaccharides from skin friendly marine bacteria that attract and hold water like hyaluronic acid but are allegedly lighter in texture and feel.

It is a weird consistency, it’s thinner than water and can be difficult to get onto your skin at first. One recommendation that I read was to put it onto a damp face, as then it will draw in some of that additional hydration too. So I normally cleanse and spray some toner or a spray such as Avene Thermal Water to my face before applying a few drops – this to me means 4-5 so that my skin feels hydrated. It drinks it up pretty quickly so I find I need more drops than recommended

You can find more info on their website but this product is vegan, free from oil, alcohol, nuts, gluten and silicone and is cruelty free. It’s also covered by their policy to send products back within 365 days if you have any bad reactions to it. Some people have complained about the smell but I honestly can’t see any problems with it, maybe I’m immune or just used to crazy smelling skincare (thanks to all the plant based oils that my skin loves!)

I do find that some of it is wasted because it’s thin but I also am one of those people that slaps on skincare, and seeing as these products are so affordable it’s not really a problem for me.

The Marine Hyaluronics serum costs £5.90 for 30ml and I think it’s a bargain, I’m on my second bottle and will shortly be picking up my third!

Next time I’m going to pick up the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 as well so I can get my skin as hydrated as possible. It’s supposed to be a bit thicker and more serum like in consistency so using them together might be the best combo!

Have you tried any products from The Ordinary? What do you recommend? I’ve been using some of the acids and been getting some really great results! More feedback soon!
