New Purchases from The Ordinary

Recently I’ve joined the many other thousands of people and finally placed an order with The Ordinary and purchased some of their skincare. They’ve made huge news for their range of products but also for their low prices, high quality and cruelty free ingredients that actually work.

I’ve posted about their Marine Hyaluronics recently and thought rather than separate out my other purchases/gifts I’d just write about them all in one go for a one stop review. I’m sure I’ll purchase more in future so can update then!

The Ordinary

For full clarity I’ve purchased some of these products myself but also had some given to me as a gift from a friend so didn’t purchase them all.

In total this post includes:

  • Natural Moisturising Factors + HA (NMF) £6.75
  • AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution £6.25
  • Lactic Acid 10% +HA £6.00
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid 5% £6.00
  • 100% Organic Cold Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil £7.25

NMF + HA is essentially a moisturiser, it’s primary job is to protect and hydrate the skin’s outer layer and is packed with amino acids to do this. The directions are simply to apply this over your daily serums, so I’ve been using it morning and night over whatever other serum, acid etc that I’ve put on.

It’s quite a thick moisturiser and doesn’t sink in fast, it takes some time and additional rubbing in after the initial application.

I can’t say this product is ‘amazing’ but its a good moisturiser and I can use it safe in the knowledge that it won’t react with any of the acids I’ve put on my face that day. I’m happy using all of the products from TO but I don’t mix and match them too much as I don’t want to damage my skin, so this one is reliable and I’ve had no issues with it at all. I’d probably repurchase knowing it will be a good option.

The AHA/BHA peeling solution is an exfoliator designed for use on the skin twice a week. It needs to be applied to clean dry skin and left for up to 10 minutes before rinsing off with water.

It treats the top layer of skin to fight blemishes, pore congestion and fine lines to give a brighter and clearer complexion – sounds ideal right?

I’ve used this a few times and my skin has had a slight tingle but nothing that feels like my face is burning off (some other products feel like this!).  Afterwards my skin has looked clearer and brighter, but I can’t comment too much on long term as I’d need to use it more. My skin has definitely not broken out after it so there wasn’t a purge stage which is good news! I like it and will keep using it.

Lactic Acid 10% + HA, I purchased the higher strength acid knowing my skin could tolerate it. LActic acid is used to target uneven skin tone, fine lines and reducing pigmentation as well as acne scars and age spots by stimulating cell regeneration. The fact it has HA added to it means the lipid barrier is strengthened allowing the skin to retain moisture.

I might go so far as to say this is my favourite product from TO. I’m the ultimate lazy girl who still wants good skin, so using a product like this where I can add a few drops to my nightly routine and don’t have to wash it off afterwards is perfect. I have seen real visible results after adding this in and would recommend it to anyone. It’s easy, I’ve not had any reactions and my skin has never looked better. Everyone should give this (or the 5% one) a go!

Alpha Lipoic Acid was a random purchase but as it’s an anti-aging serum I knew I had to try it. It’s an antioxidant to help resurface the skin including scars, pigmentation and dullness.

It’s only to be used 2/3 nights a week but this is probably my second favourite product from TO. Used with the Lactic Acid my skin has been so much clearer, smoother and uniform. I’ve tried using them separately and they both had good results, but together my skin was miles better. It’s helped loads with the surface of my skin and I’d recommend anyone to try it.

The Ordinary Skincare

The OrdinaryLast but not least I have the Cold Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil used for anything and everything, hair and face. The oil is rich in fatty acids and vitamins to help with hydrating whatever you put it on, omega-9 is rich in antioxidants and improve skin’s elasticity, and omega-6 to help with dryness on skin and hair.

I add this on top of whatever I put onto my skin when it feels like it needs the extra layer. I’ve used it on my hair a few times but I have hair specific oils so I keep this one for my face. It glides on top of my moisturiser and sinks in, I’m not left with any residue on my face. I really like this and would repurchase in future.

The Ordinary

I love finding new skincare products and can’t wait to try more from The Ordinary. I’ve actually purchased a few more since these and I’ve picked them up today, so I’m hoping for good things!

So far I’d definitely repurchase most of these and recommend them to anyone considering trying them. Plus they’re affordable, cruelty free, vegan and they WORK.

What have you tried from TO? What’s your favourite so far?Any that you would recommend I try?
