Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

As beauty product junkies we’ve been testing lots the last few months but getting round to sharing them has been a slow process. (I’ll have a life update post soon but after 9 flights in 17 days for work amongst other things we’re behind our schedule so apologies for that, fingers crossed we’ll be catching up over the next few weeks!) One of the products I’ve been using is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation.

I hadn’t ever used CT before March when I had some given to me for my 30th, and I’ve slowly been purchasing some extra products since then. (If you’d like to catch up, you can read my review of their 3 Way Brow Shape Tool here) The rose gold packaging is pretty popular now but CT had the original range, and it looks a lot better quality than some other copies.
I love that although the packaging is still the classic rose gold they have a pink box with a Magic bit of sparkle detail. It’s still on brand but a little bit extra, and I love it,

The bottle itself has a matte finish, I did wonder if this would mean I’d get it really dirty and it would be constantly covered in my fingerprints (like some others…..Nars…) but this hasn’t happened.
The Magic foundation is a full coverage demi matte foundation designed to be long lasting and is enriched with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and laricyl (google tells me this is a concentrated form of mushroom that the French have linked with a longer life – sign me up!)
I have been using a Real Techniques sponge and my Spectrum Collections Sassy Siren B01 brush to apply this and both seem to work perfectly. I guess it’s just what you prefer to use, I like options but probably the sponge is my go to.

The foundation itself is fairly thick but a little goes a long way. To be honest on first look I actually wasn’t too impressed, the colour was great (I have 3 Fair/Light Cool) and its a perfect match for me. I’m not sure why I wasn’t impressed but it didn’t fill me with the ‘OMG I’ve found THE ONE’ feels.

However! It has consistently been a foundation that I’ve reached for. All the damn time.
It covers well, fits the demi matte description and I’ve had no problems with it falling off my face, rolling into bits or going into dry patches.
You can see some pictures with it on below:

It covers really well yet doesn’t look like your face is caked up.
I think because lots of the CT products are all about the Glow I was expecting it to have all the features previously mentioned AND a glowy finish which obviously it doesn’t. It can easily be added though with other products like liquid highlighters, illuminating primers etc so I haven’t looked back!
It didn’t wow me at first but I’m always reaching for it which ironically is a bit of a pain as I was saving it for my ‘best days’ but let’s be honest, why shouldn’t every day be my best day??

I purchased my foundation from the counter in John Lewis Cardiff but you can also purchase it online via a few different websites, price is around £29-32 depending where you buy it from.
I’ll certainly be repurchasing which says a lot about it, and I hear the new Magic concealer has finally been released too. This has been in production for years to find the right formula and apparently it’s amazing – race you to the counter!
Have you tried CT? What’s your favourite face product? I need to start looking at their lipsticks more because the colour range is amazing!
