Christmas 2019

Hello there! Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all! It’s been a crazy busy year but I really wanted to end by sharing pictures of my life at Christmas 2019 edition. I’ve got a few posts in the works but I just love Christmas and wanted to share some images with you to start all over again!

Christmas 2019

Christmas is my favourite time of year and I love wandering Cardiff to see the lights, the arcades are particularly special at this time of year. They’re all lit up and the stores make a big effort, they look so honely and welcoming!

Morgan Arcade is very popular and it’s not hard to see why, it’s beautiful! Look at those lights!

My decorations have not been at my usual standard, mainly because last year I had packed up with the thought I would be moving soon (it didn’t happen until August…) So I’d forgotten what decorations I had, didn’t buy any more and my new place is totally different and things just don’t seem to look right!

However I did put my tree up and added my new favourite decoration from Whistler, I love having some that have amazing memories as that’s what Christmas is all about for me. As well as this I also made my own wreath which has been on the front door, so pleased with it and I want to make a wreath for every season now!

Christmas day was at my parents house this year, I helped to make the desserts and my Terry’s chocolate orange cheesecake went down well! It was the most calorific dessert ever but I enjoyed making it and it tasted great!

I also was put in charge of the evening food, and I made these cheese and meat tasting boards for everyone to pick from. It was a lot of fun to make and I think I enjoyed making them as much as I did eating the cheese off it. For Christmas day we don’t dress up a lot but we don’t wear pyjamas, this year I had a full length wrap dress which I wore with leggings that allowed me to look like I’d made an effort but actually was super comfy! It was the perfect combination!

My dog absolutely loves Christmas, he loves helping to unwrap presents and can always tell which one is his by smelling it! He’s been ill this year after being poisoned and hasn’t fully recovered as he’s 12 now so it was so nice to see him acting like a puppy again, even if he did sneak off for naps in between.

I was totally spoilt with my presents and had some really lovely things. I won’t go into detail of what I had but how amazing is my new notebook?! My mum actually made the cover herself!! I love writing lists and being outside in the mountains so it’s the perfect present for me.

My mum also started the tradition last year of giving a book on Christmas Eve. The tradition comes from Iceland and I can’t pronounce the official name of it but we’ve continued it again this year too. This year I had the Leon Happy Curries book and I will definitely be using this a lot over the next year! I love trying new recipes and bought a stand for my kitchen so now i can prop the book up properly without losing my page or getting food all over it!!

Do you have any Christmas traditions? What’s your typical Christmas day? Did you try any new recipes?

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas with loved ones and wish you all the best for 2020. It’s a new decade so how’s the time to make some changes!!
