Herbal Steam Temple Treatment at the Celtic Manor Resort

Well the festive season has wrapped it’s way up but I’m not done with all the fairy lights, can we just appreciate the amazing decorations at the Celtic Manor Resort?? So beautiful! We were lucky enough to be invited in December to try out their Herbal Steam Temple treatment and so were going to share it with you today

We visited on a rainy cold Thursday evening after work and the moment we arrived felt like we’d entered a little vacuum of peace, tranquility and relaxation. The smell of spas is always the best, I really appreciate those essential oils!

After changing into robes we were presented with an absolute treat, glasses of prosecco and chocolate dipped strawberries. This is the time the stresses of the day began to melt away!

We sat here for a little while people watching, catching up with our Christmas plans and generally forgetting the outside world until we were taken to our treatment room.

The Herbal Steam Temple treatment is in its own room and can include up to four people, so it’s great for a group of friends, small hen party or couples spa days. The description online is as follows:

Perfect to enjoy as a couple or with friends, enter the exotic herbal steam temple under a thousand stars for a traditional Arabian cleansing ritual. Apply different coloured medicinal chakra muds to specific areas of the body, whilst gently inhaling steam infused with pure herbs to cleanse your respiratory system, smooth your skin and detoxify your body. The ritual culminates with a warm tropical rain to wash away the mud and every last drop of tension.

The whole treatment process and options were explained to us so I’ll do my best to remember it all for you.

You are provided with a little table of products to use before the treatment begins where you can remove make up and put on a shower cap if you want. I did use a shower cap and it worked well so is a great option if you don’t want to get your hair involved in the mud and shower!

After this you move on to the treatment room itself, just make sure you take a minute to take it all in. It’s a small room with a dark ceiling with spotlights to mimic the night sky, there are four heated seats and a central point where the steam flows into the room.

As part of the treatment you are provided with a tray of products. The first is a scrub which you can use all over to exfoliate your skin in preparation for the main treatment. Once rinsed off it’s time for the mud!

The muds are for specific areas, so the lightest is for your face, hair and shoulders, the middle option for your arms and torso, and the darkest option for your legs and feet. They were fairly thick but melted slightly to make them easier to apply and we managed to easily distribute these between the two of us without any fighting so the amounts are generous!

Side note, how amazing is the beautiful tiled floor?! You can see it in the image below in the background!

We covered ourselves as much as possible with the muds, Mia covered her hair with it too.

Once applied you then sit down into the bucket style seats which are actually heated, it’s a slightly weird but nice feeling being covered in mud and warmed as you relax!

At this point all you need to do is sit in the steam and relax! The steam is all automated so the process is timed, it lasts around 40 minutes total so there is enough time to rinse and clean off at the end. We basically chatted through the whole process but you could also sit quietly, snooze or meditate if that’s your thing!

After this we rinsed off and can say that for both of us our skin felt smoother all over and the experience was very relaxing. Mia’s hair felt much more hydrated after the mud application and the skin on my face (which was suffering from a few angry red areas) was much calmer afterwards.

We moved from the treatment room to one of the dark rooms off the main reception area and sat in the low lighting to continue the relaxation.

However we couldn’t stay here long because we were also signed up for the Great Skate! This was Celtic Manor’s winter wonderland and contained their own skating rink. So we donned the boots and skated around, I was admittedly awful! I haven’t been skating for 15+ years so almost every child overtook me and I barely left the sides! Mia was a pro in comparison!

I won’t win any prizes for my skating abilities but I did very much appreciate the opportunity to test them out again! Especially in such a gorgeous set up, we stopped here to have some food and drinks before making our way home.

We were provided with the opportunity to experience the Herbal Steam Temple treatment but can genuinely say that it was a lot of fun! The prices change depending on the day and the amount of people taking part so best to check with the website at time of booking but for two people on a week day the total price would be £85.

It would be the perfect group treatment for a couple or girls day out and you have the facilities to enjoy as well. The full pool and spa area are one of the best we’ve ever experienced and as a female you also get the benefit of having access to the women’s only jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

Have you been to the Celtic Manor Resort? Would you try a group treatment like this?
